What is Rotary?
Rotary International is the world’s oldest and largest humanitarian service organization.
Approximately 1.2 million diverse business and professional leaders worldwide belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries.
Rotarians serve local and international service needs, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world through scholarships and relief work.

Service Projects
- Donation support for Colfax Days Fireworks, Food Pantry, Labor Day Parade, Salvation Army, Red Cross Disaster
- Help, various individual citizen and community help projects.
- Pass the Hat donation to special program presentations like Zambia Project
- Sponsor and Support local Boy Scout Troop
- Support Rotary Polio worldwide eradication goal including the fact that donations for the purpose of polio eradication will also be counted in foundation donation totals.
- Recognize Schuyler Central High School Senior Class “Students of the Week” as nominated by teaching staff
- Present annually a “Student of Week” scholarship
- Recognize local farmers by inviting them to AG WEEK program.
- Recognize Administrative Assistants & Office Secretaries by inviting them during their nationally designated week.
- Support international learning & leadership by supporting outbound or inbound Group Study Exchange team members.
- Support Rotary International through voluntary donations to the Paul Harris Foundation by following the Goal of $100 every Rotarian Every Year (EREY). These donations support humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs.
- Promote fellowship communication among local community leaders through attendance at weekly meetings.
- Member birthday recognition at weekly rotary meetings.
- Analyze potential new community and vocational projects such as providing English/Spanish dictionaries to students through the library or school.
General Information
- To fully benefit from rotary, attendance at the weekly meetings is highly recommended. If unable to attend the weekly meeting, it can be made up at any other Rotary club anytime 14 days before or 14 days after the missed meeting. If unable to make up meeting, there may be a minimal makeup attendance fee to support a club project fund.
- Each member shall take their appropriate turn in an alphabetical rotation in providing a program for each weekly meeting throughout the rotary year.
- HAPPY bucks from members with good news to pass on to the club. Generally $1 per good news.
- Club Year for rotary runs from July 1 through June 30.
- Annual Dues are $100 - $50 due July 1 and $50 due January 1
Weekly club bulletin the “Rotogram” is handed out to those attending each meeting. It briefly informs of the program for the day, including the week following and other pertinent information. (Contact Richard Folda, editor, @ 352-2330, with program information for the “Rotogram”.)
