We will be zooming online this year for the District 5650 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Click here to view more information and sponsors. Click Read More to view the text of the attachment.
Last year was canceled due to COVID-19.  Lucky for us, in reaction to COVID, the Rotaractors of Northern New Jersey created RYLA university, RU, (www.rylauniversty.com) and now anyone, anywhere can experience a form of RYLA.

RYLA Committee Chairwoman, Lori Benton of Omaha West, collapsed last year’s committee agenda with this year’s RU syllabus.  In addition to the four lesson sections of RYLA University, our students will also experience learning their top five strengths, gender identity social justice, and leadership ethics.  All of which you, too, may participate in. Learn more at https://rotarydistrict5650.org/sitepage/ryla

And, although it would seem that online RYLA would require fewer volunteers, this year may require more! We are matching each student with a Rotarian mentor for the RYLA timespan of May 1 – June 12, 2020. We require 5 ambassadors each Saturday to be active in online breakout rooms and Saturday May 22, we need ten volunteers to help out with our Extreme Event.

This year, students have been sponsored by the following clubs: Bellevue, Blair, Council Bluffs Centennial, Council Bluffs Noon, Seward, Downtown, Lincoln East, Millard, Omaha Suburban, Red Oak, Omaha West, Omaha Night, and at the time of this writing, potentially four students from Crookston, MN.

Young Rotarians is a major of the goal of RYLA, affectionately called Rotary 101.  Please consider a student or two for a zoom presentation at a club meeting.  Interact will be discussed and we are hoping a few Sophomores will desire to start a chapter. Scholarship and other youth benefits will be shared at the last session on June 12. With luck, District 5650 will engage these future leaders.
